Canning goulash

Canning goulash

Calling all canners! Here’s a great family recipe. To my relatives, this stuff is like liquid gold. Perfect for an easy meal, gift, or potluck.

My recipe is scale up to make a large batch for canning. But I’m sure you could make a smaller batch if you don’t feel like canning.

30 large tomatoes, skinned (I’ve found the Roma’s to taste best)
12 large apples, skinned and cored
2 large onions, chopped
2 green peppers, chopped
5 cups white sugar
1 pint apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp salt
1-2 tsp cinnamon
1-2 tsp cloves

Combine all the ingredients and cook until soft. Then run through a ricer or food processor.

Put in quarts, seal jars, and process in a pressure cooker at 10 lbs for 25 minutes.

Open when you need an easy meal. Just brown some meat and combine with the sauce and some macaroni noodles. Dinner is served!!
